From the very beginning of REN, we’ve cherished our original pigskin leather, HALLIE.
Back then, cowhide was the standard—valued for its flawless surface and easily recognizable quality.
But we were searching for something different, something that reflected our own values. That’s when we encountered HALLIE.
Pigskin was often used only as a lining material due to its visible scratches and natural variations in color.
But we saw something else in it: it was incredibly lightweight, densely structured, and surprisingly strong for its thinness.
It was breathable, supple like fabric, and full of untapped potential.
By studying how texture and density vary by section, exploring dyes, and finding ways to minimize waste from the raw hides, we’ve been able to refine this material into something that now reaches the hands—and hearts—of many.
