The body is made from high-density nylon with a soft, drapey texture reminiscent of suede. In contrast, the handles and other parts use firm, vegetable-tanned cowhide leather. This combination is not only visually striking but also highly functional.

The firm leather handles extend deep into the bag from the opening, allowing them to stay upright even when the bag is placed on the ground — giving it a neat and refined appearance.

The handles also serve as a kind of “frame,” shaping the bag without the need for additional reinforcement. This design allows the soft fabric to retain its natural suppleness while maintaining structure. Additionally, the leather sewn around the inside of the opening plays the same supportive role.

The handle structure is intentionally designed to be visible from the outside, while the reverse side is left with a natural finish to showcase the leather’s presence. By avoiding excessive materials and overprocessing, the bag remains lightweight and effortless. This minimalist approach reflects REN’s unique philosophy — simple, honest, and never overdone.

High density nylon

It is an ultra-high-density fabric with excellent water repellency, windproofing, and moisture permeability, and is widely used for clothing. Although the material was developed by a Japanese manufacturer, its high specifications are so high that it has been adopted as official equipment by the Italian military.
In addition to such functionality, what is noteworthy is that it has a touch and smoky look similar to suede or nubuck, and does not look like "cloth. It has a leather-like texture, yet can be expressed in ways that leather cannot. As such a rare fabric, we continue to use it with care and affection.
