The “Maxi Tote” reimagines the authentic tote bag through REN’s lens — generous in material and minimal in design.
With its bold size and sculptural shape, the “Maxi Tote” offers reassuring capacity for everything from daily errands to travel. Yet it never feels overdone—thanks to Aperto cowhide, which is both remarkably light and supple. Its quiet beauty lies in simplicity: minimal stitching, an unlined raw-edge opening, and pocket edges folded and bonded instead of sewn, showcasing REN’s understated craftsmanship.
The long, slender handles rest naturally on the shoulder for effortless carrying while creating an elegant line around the arms. Running down to the base of the bag, the handles provide stability even when carrying heavier loads. When lightly packed, the supple Aperto leather forms graceful drapes and shadows unique to its texture.
The interior features a clean, unlined design with no pockets. Enjoy organizing your essentials in pouches or attaching a small case to the handle—there’s room to make it entirely your own.
APERTO
REN’s original leather, “APERTO”, is a mixed-tanned cowhide crafted by skilled tanners in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. Infused with ample oil, the leather fibers are softened to achieve a refined, delicate grain. Despite its lightweight and supple texture, it retains exceptional strength even when processed into thin layers. Over time, the leather develops a richer softness, sheen, and character, offering an evolving charm with use.
This series marks REN’s first adoption of a backing process. The interior lining features “Bonseyn,” a high-grade artificial suede known for its superior elasticity. Its sophisticated texture and lightweight nature complement Aperto’s elegance, resulting in a more refined and polished series.
“APERTO” seamlessly blends the beauty of leather with functionality, offering a completely new experience that sets it apart from previous REN collections.
