While mesh bags are often associated with summer, REN’s Sheep Mesh is designed for autumn and winter. Available exclusively during these seasons, its fine, densely woven leather and soft, cushioned texture complement seasonal wardrobes.

Its soft, textured appearance pairs naturally with autumn trench coats and wool coats, adding a subtle accent to seasonal outfits.

The defining characteristic of Sheep Mesh is its exceptional softness. Crafted from supple sheepskin, the leather has a smooth, gentle feel from the very first touch. The overlapping layers created by the intricate weave give the material its distinctive volume and softly cushioned texture.

Despite its densely woven construction, the Circle Basket remains remarkably lightweight. The intricate mesh requires a generous amount of leather, yet the finished bag weighs only approximately 350–400g. Easy to lift with one hand, it offers a light and comfortable carrying experience.

The bag’s lightness comes not only from the natural qualities of sheepskin but also from REN’s approach to design. Metal hardware is kept to a minimum, while soft lining materials and a construction without stiff reinforcements help reduce weight without compromising the leather’s natural flexibility.

The spacious main compartment accommodates everyday essentials such as a tumbler, folding umbrella, and A4-size notebook, with room to spare. While rigid items like books and notebooks may slightly alter the bag’s rounded silhouette, its soft construction offers generous storage for everyday use.

The wide shoulder handle sits comfortably on the shoulder and helps distribute the weight of your belongings, making the bag easy to carry even when filled.

Although the bag may appear generously sized, its soft structure allows it to settle naturally against the body when carried over the shoulder. With continued use, the leather becomes even more supple, gradually developing a shape and texture that feel increasingly familiar.

 SHEEP MESH

Sheepskin originally tanned for gloves is woven into a fine leather mesh using the traditional Ajiro weaving technique. Similar to the cut-and-sew process used in clothing, the leather mesh is first created as a single piece, then cut and sewn into shape.
To preserve the natural softness and suppleness of the leather, a generous amount of oil is added during processing. The pigments used for coloring are also blended with oil and applied in a thin layer, creating a smooth, exceptionally soft texture that feels gentle against the skin.
Developed in collaboration with an atelier in India specializing in leather mesh, this material combines intricate craftsmanship with the natural qualities of sheepskin.

［ About color migration and color fading]

If worn with denim, indigo-dyed or cotton clothing, the color of the clothing may transfer to the leather due to friction. Also, if the bag gets wet due to rain, sweat, or friction, the color of the leather may transfer to your clothing. Please be careful when matching the bag with bright clothing.

If not used for a long period of time, store in a well-ventilated place. Avoid storing in a humid place as it may cause mold and leather deterioration.
