This leather mesh is made of Asian buffalo leather tanned with "vegetable tannin," a traditional technique using "astringent" extracted from plant bark and leaves, and woven with the Ajiro technique.

Originally cut from a single piece of leather, friction produces shades of color on the cross section of the leather string. This is a change unique to nume leather. Since leather strings of different shades are randomly woven together, the entire mesh fabric has an exquisite gradation.
